Tune of the month - March

With Dubstep becoming more popular and new labels and artists becoming established so frequently, we often get lost as to what’s coming out and where it's available, and most importantly, whether it is actually any good.

Fortunately Dubstep itself isn't mainstream, and so promotion only goes so far, usually to certain DJs who hold prime time radio slots on the most popular of stations, or those who play the in the biggest clubs in the most exotic of countries, and that’s about it.

All the other promotion is generated through community based discussions where tracks can actually be identified and documented thoroughly, but with all this self-promotion by up and coming producers, labels, promoters and what not is clogging the pipes and sometimes it is a hard and a very laborious task to sift through the rubbish to find that hidden gem.

Not like that the track we are featuring needs any introduction, we just felt that it’s a marvellous tune that deserves to be outlined and almost turned into a mascot for originality from within the scene. Digidesign, crafted by Bristolian, Joker, is a brand new tune out on Hyperdub 18 and is available from most good record stores including Boomkat. This tune is still in its early days but has already been smacked around by big names including Unitz who featured it on our February Mix.

You can catch Joker playing back to back with Pinch and alongside other huge names at the legendary DMZ night and DMZ's all important 4th Birthday party held at Mass Club in Brixton, South London. You will be stupid to miss it.
