Free Starkey Remix!
Posted by: DARKSIDE on 2010-02-10 02:02:36 GMTSorry for being a bit 'lax lately, but the stuff we are about to do over March and April is worth it and to keep you sweet for a little bit, we've hooked up with CharmFactory to bring you another exclusive freebie!
Starkey, Starkey, Starkey... you should know him from his monthly radio show on SubFM (1st Tuesday of the Month at Midnight, GMT) or probably from his appearance on Generation Bass, curated by the lovely Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC Radio 1.
Calling in from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - The US of A, Starkey has been 'doing' music for well over 5 years with his first release (Less Than Paper ft Zilla) on a label that he runs with his mates called "Slit Jockey Records".
With plenty of releases under his belt and enough CD releases to put other big name Dubstep producers to shame, Starkey was nominated by Vex'd to appear on Mary Anne Hobbs' 'Generation Bass', recorded live from the renown Maida Vale Studios and then aired on BBC Radio 1.
Starkey has grown from strength to strength, playing all over the world and has been approached to do remixes for many names such as Zomby and Tempa T (Next Hype).
One of the remixes we want to chat about though is for a band who have received a large amount of backing from the Gnarls Barkley duo. The Constellations are releasing their new tune 'Setback' for free on their website if you're willing to surrender your information or you can buy it on the 8th March! However, we've been lucky enough to snag a Dubstep remix by Starkey exclusive for GetDarker! Wahey!
If you like your large dynamic bass and you electro synths and other Joker-esque flavours then you will enjoy this. The intro builds up quietly with some sad, dreamy synths cutting sharply into a glitchy barrage of lyrics until before you know it, "I've been caught off-guard" as our very own DJ Darkside would say.
Unfortunately we've only got a 192kbps version (contracts and stuff) which for the normal user is sufficient, however if you're a pedantic media type who only wants the best, then sorry mate, you're gonna have to do one. The 320kbps version is now available!
We love it.
